Consumer Protection

The Problem

Across the economy, prices continue to rise. Corporations continue to have record profits. Consumers are getting the short end of the stick in the process. Virginians are being priced out of everyday life, and it’s time to ensure all people can keep more of what they earn by ending predatory corporate practices.

The Solution

In 2025, Virginia banned the use of hidden fees and now requires that all fees on purchases be disclosed up front so consumers know what they’re paying. In 2026, Virginia enacted their own Click to Cancel law, ensuring consumers have easy, accessible ways to end certain services, memberships and subscriptions. The fight for consumer protection doesn’t end there. The Virginia Consumer Protection Act should be revised to ensure all loopholes and backdoors for corporations are closed, making Virginia a leader in consumer protection.  Surveillance pricing and algorithmic pricing
