ADVISORY: Freedom Virginia Brings ‘Show Me Your Values’ Mobile Billboard Tour on State Budget in Loudoun County

After Calls from Gov. Youngkin for a Budget Special Session, Leaders and Community Members Will Call for Investment in Schools and Communities Instead of Tax Handouts to Corporations

LEESBURG, Va. – Following Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s call for legislators to finish the budget, Freedom Virginia will bring their mobile billboard tour to Leesburg after launching the tour in Virginia Beach. Loudoun County General Assembly members, local elected officials and community members will call for legislators to make investments in Virginia communities instead of giving tax handouts to big corporations and the wealthiest Virginians.

The “Show Us Your Values” tour will call on legislators to show that they value Virginia families above corporate handouts. Legislators will make a simple choice: adopt the Senate budget and give $1 billion to our public schools or adopt Governor Youngkin and House Republicans’ budget, which contains $1 billion in tax cuts, mostly for corporations and the richest Virginians. This week, Gov. Youngkin called for a special session on the budget, which could happen in June or July.

The tour continues in Leesburg on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Upcoming stops will include Henrico County, Newport News and Harrisonburg.

Senator Jennifer Boysko, Delegate Suhas Subramanyam, Delegate Irene Shin and Loudoun County School Board Member Atoosa Reaser will come together in Leesburg to call on Governor Youngkin and budget negotiators to prioritize Virginia children and their education.

The Senate budget would mean $34.6 million more for Loudoun County public schools, or $424 more per student. The increased Senate funding would add 582 staffers to Loudoun County schools, including school support staff like counselors, social workers and nurses.
