NEW: Youngkin Doubles Down on $1 Billion Tax Scheme for Corporations and the Wealthy

RICHMOND, Va. — Freedom Virginia, a nonpartisan (c)4 organization committed to building a Commonwealth where all families have the freedom to thrive, responded to today’s reporting that Gov. Youngkin has doubled down on his $1 billion tax scheme to benefit corporations and the rich.

“It’s disappointing that Governor Youngkin would double down on his $1 billion corporate handout tax scheme instead of coming to the table to fund our public schools,” said Freedom Virginia’s executive director Rhena Hicks. “We renew our call for the General Assembly to adopt the Senate budget proposal so that we can instead invest an additional $1 billion in our children and in our future.”

Freedom Virginia, state legislators, educators, and other local leaders recently completed a 5-stop mobile billboard tour across the Commonwealth  to showcase the localized impact of the Senate budget’s additional funding for our public schools. General Assembly members and leaders from across the Commonwealth called for passage of the Senate Budget to ensure corporations and the rich pay their fair share and that we prioritize investment in schools.
