Freedom Virginia Celebrates Pro-Economic Security Majority in Both Chambers of the General Assembly

RICHMOND, Va. – Following a sweep of pro-economic security candidates, Freedom Virginia today congratulates its endorsed candidates for their work toward a General Assembly that prioritizes Virginians over large corporations and helps working families thrive.  These candidates campaigned on making the commonwealth more affordable by lowering prescription drug costs, rejecting tax giveaways for corporations, and helping working families thrive through access to childcare and paid leave.

“This election was a clear mandate for a new economic agenda that puts hardworking people first,” said Rhena Hicks, Executive Director of Freedom Virginia. “Our candidates campaigned on kitchen table issues. There was a clear contrast between candidates who sided with Big Pharma and those who supported a Prescription Drug Affordability Board, between those who fought to invest nearly a billion in public education and those who voted for a corporate tax scheme at the expense of our schools. This election showed that everyday families are standing up to big corporations and special interests, and they want legislators to put their needs first.”

Freedom Virginia invested a historic $1.86 million in 2023 in contributions, digital ads, and mail highlighting endorsed candidates’ strong support for policies that would create an economy where every family can thrive.
