Eggs Will Roll

This was not the news we expected to be concerned about today, but according to NBC News, the out-of-touch, only-picks-up-the-phone-for-billionaires White House plans to use 30,000 real eggs for its annual Easter Egg Roll.

Last month, the average cost for a dozen eggs hit an all-time high of $8.64, and eggs still remain out of reach for many American families today.

March Navigator polling showed that Americans feel that the costs of everything, but especially eggs, are rising.

Vanessa Frias of Willowbrook Farms in Michigan was quoted in the NBC article saying, “Those eggs need to go in people’s bellies, and it needs to feed our families here in the United States, not to be played with […] Because of the shortage, I don’t think it makes sense to waste our eggs on an event that isn’t giving anything, I could see if the eggs were going to a cause or going to feed people, but to roll them across the lawn, I don’t think that makes any sense. It’s a waste.”

Families are struggling to afford eggs, but never fear, their hard-earned taxpayer money will be wasted on real eggs for a ceremonial event. Trump is clearly taking some cues from Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears channeling his inner Marie Antoinette, “let them eat eggs!” Only, in this case, hardworking families struggling with the cost of groceries can’t eat those 30,000 eggs.

Anyway, we’ll be listening to the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and A-Trak’s “Heads Will Roll” for no reason on Monday! 🥚
