Qualifications
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and MVR (annual)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • This is an entry or junior-level role in a small organization 
  • Prefer 1 cycle of digital and/or organizing experience but are willing to train
  • Experience with Votebuilder and/or Every Action is a plus
  • Experience (even informal or volunteer) in recruiting, training and managing volunteers
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in an evolving environment, with multiple potential issue priorities 
  • Must be a strong collaborator with an ability to work in groups
  • Ability to establish and adhere to performance metrics, established by the mobilization director
  • Special consideration will be given to those with experience working in or ties to Virginia

Freedom Virginia is seeking two entry-level grassroots organizers to work on prescription drug affordability advocacy campaigns.

This position will report to the Grassroots Mobilization Director. The Organizers will serve as the front-line organizing faces and voices for Freedom Virginia’s . This particular program will be 100% focused on telling volunteers’ stories about the skyrocketing costs of prescription medication and finding volunteers that are willing to speak to the press, legislators, and at Freedom Virginia and partner organizations’ events. It will be the job of each individual organizer to build the volunteer base in their turf into a robust list of active volunteers that are willing to take action with Freedom Virginia. 

Day to day tasks will include recruiting volunteers by making phone calls; sending emails/Peer-to-peer texts; SMS messages, etc.; and organizing group events to generate action. Organizers will work closely with the Mobilization Director to trouble-shoot digital platforms and operationalize campaign organizing tools and tactics. While the organization is remote, this position requires in person organizing work within the state of Virginia.

Compensation will be $4,000/mo + health insurance and a generous Paid Family Leave and Paid Sick Days policy.
